This is where we can explain the in-jokes that cropped up over the years. Probably the most popular one:

Weathertop

The reason is that early in our tenure, we were positively hasty, and it became an in-joke that the community wanted to go back to Weathertop and properly discuss it, as the class became more and more in-depth and slower in progress sometime after Weathertop.

'Spiritual' anything, particularly boulders.

This occurred when we discussed the Ford of Bruinen scene, and Tolkien mentioned boulders in the rush of waters that swept away the Nazgûl, but it was unclear if they were physical or spiritual (part of Gandalf's contribution). It then became an in-joke and 'spiritual <item>' referenced many times in attendees' handles or whenever any future incorporeal items were mentioned in the text.

"We'll get to this in about 6 years..."

Lots of references in this group about the pace as we go.

I don't remember the last calculation on how long it would take at the current pace to completely explore The Lord of the Rings, but it's several decades into the future. Between missed weeks, extra lengthy time spent on poetry, and some other delays, we're on a long journey.

So you'll hear Corey joke around about how we'll address a particular subject from The Two Towers years from now.
